A bit about me

I grew up in Seattle’s suburbs, a gay kid in an environment and time where queer people and identities were mostly ignored or avoided: I learned the best way to make it through was to stay hidden.  I have since learned that “stay hidden” is not just a narrative affecting queer people, but something that affects all of us living inside oppressive systems, surviving trauma, and desiring to live freely and safely as our authentic selves.

As a therapist, I work with clients to explore these and other survival narratives, and re-connect with sources of resiliency: the self, the community, and the world around us.  As a white, queer, gay male, I am also firmly committed to my own learning, growth, and action toward undoing institutionalized oppression, including racism, classism, ableism, sexism and transphobia.

Outside of therapy, I am a proud guncle, singer, runner, and comic book and video game enthusiast.  My style is warm, relational, transparent, engaged and supportive: I am here to travel beside you as you discover the next turns on your path.

Experience

I received a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Washington in 2013, which included a clinical internship at Seattle Counseling Service working with Seattle’s LGBTQIA+ community.  After graduation, I worked for several years in a community mental health agency with youth, young adults, and families with diverse backgrounds and identity intersections, including LGBTQIA2S+ people, BIPOC, people with disabilities, and/or folks experiencing various levels of housing instability.  I have worked in a private practice setting since 2018.

I am licensed as an independent clinical social worker (LICSW, #LW60686077), and also credentialed as a Sexual Minority Mental Health Specialist (SMMHS), Child Mental Health Specialist (CMHS), and Washington state approved supervisor. I am a member of the National Association of Social Workers and adhere to their Code of Ethics.
